These paintings give me a chance to sew together stories from all things man made and natural, reflective of some of my favorite pursuits.
Landscapes are my escape from the studio. They are therapeutic, being outdoors and surrounded by nature. Here the perfectly controlled environment of the painter's studio is exchanged for chaos, ever-changing light effects and the full forces of nature, delightful and sometimes disastrous.
A backpack easel is the first thing I prepare when a vacation or weekend away is looming.
William McGregor Paxton once said "Painting is so difficult that I would give it up if it were not so enjoyable." I believe it is what all painters feel when painting the figure.
